Although in Kerala, you might not sight a Mistletoe commonly, Christmas has its unique flavour with a glass of Kerala Wine and whiling away time amidst the groves of palms and coconut trees.<\/p>\n<p>Kerala Wines mainly made from sweet black grapes or pinkish-red grapes tastes sweet with a subtle pungency which gives a high only after you have gulped down quite a few pegs.\u00c2\u00a0 It is very easy to make the Kerala style wine at home if you follow the recipe given below. The measurements given here will make about 4 litres of wine.<\/p>\n<h3>Ingredients:<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3644\" src=\"https:\/\/experiencekerala.in\/kerala-tourism-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/1-1.jpg\" alt=\"Pinkish red grapes\" width=\"1000\" height=\"454\" srcset=\"https:\/\/experiencekerala.in\/kerala-tourism-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/1-1.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/experiencekerala.in\/kerala-tourism-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/1-1-300x136.jpg 300w, https:\/\/experiencekerala.in\/kerala-tourism-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/1-1-768x349.jpg 768w, https:\/\/experiencekerala.in\/kerala-tourism-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/1-1-672x305.jpg 672w, https:\/\/experiencekerala.in\/kerala-tourism-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/1-1-400x182.jpg 400w, https:\/\/experiencekerala.in\/kerala-tourism-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/1-1-600x272.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/>Pic Courtesy: Pinterest<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Pinkish Red Grapes \u00e2\u20ac\u201c 1.5 Kgs<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Sugar \u00e2\u20ac\u201c 1.5 Kgs<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Cinnamon Stick \u00e2\u20ac\u201c 2<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Cloves \u00e2\u20ac\u201c 4<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Active Dry Yeast \u00e2\u20ac\u201c 15 gms<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Whole wheat grains \u00e2\u20ac\u201c 50 gms<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Water \u00e2\u20ac\u201c 2.6 litres<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Egg White \u00e2\u20ac\u201c The white portion of 1 egg<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Preparation:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>At first, boil the water for 5 minutes and let it cool. Keep the utensil closed to keep it sterile.<\/li>\n<li>Take a big ceramic jar which would be large enough to hold all the winemaking ingredients and also have some room in it after adding the ingredients. Sterilize it.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the stem of the grapes and wash them thoroughly. Drain off the excess water from the grapes.<\/li>\n<li>Rinse the wheat grains thoroughly and dry them.<\/li>\n<li>Rupture the grapes with a wooden masher.<\/li>\n<li>Add the ruptured grapes and cooled water in the jar.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare the yeast by taking 100 ml lukewarm water, 2 tsp of sugar and mixing the dry yeast with them.<\/li>\n<li>Pour the yeast inside the jar.<\/li>\n<li>Add the wheat grains.<\/li>\n<li>Add half portion of the sugar in the jar.<\/li>\n<li>Put in the cinnamon sticks and cloves.<\/li>\n<li>Close the jar and keep it fully airtight.<\/li>\n<li>For the next 3 weeks, take out the jar daily after the 5th day, and stir in the ingredients in it gently. Close back the lid and keep airtight.<\/li>\n<li>After the 15th day, pour in the egg white into the jar. Mix the ingredients well in the jar.<\/li>\n<li>Filter the brewing mixture using a strainer and gloved as well as clean hands.<\/li>\n<li>Add in the remaining half portion of the sugar.<\/li>\n<li>Add some brandy if you want to get more tipsy.<\/li>\n<li>Stir in gently. Store the filtered brew in the airtight jar and cool, dark place for another 3 weeks.<\/li>\n<li>Open the jar. You will find the liquid, clear wine just on top of the brewed sediments.
