The city of Bangalore is one of the most urbanised cities in the country. Yet, it is rightly called 'The Garden City of India' because the greenery you get to see in Bangalore is not very common in other metropolitan cities of India. The pleasant weather is a major plus point of the city making it very special.

Bangalore, the capital city of Karnataka, is the one of the most significant metropolitan cities in India. The city is different from other major cities in India because of its highly elevated location on the Deccan Plateau. In 2014, the name of the city was officially changed to 'Bengaluru'. The city of Bangalore is an important IT hub in the country and hence, it is called 'Silicon Valley of India'. Apart from being completely urbanized, the city is also known for its pleasant climate and beautiful greenery.

Bangalore is called the 'Garden City of India' because of its greenery and the presence of many public parks and gardens. The famous parks in Bangalore are Lal Bagh and Cubbon Park. Flower shows are held in Lal Bagh on Independence Day and Republic Day. The city has many premium pubs and it also hosts a number of International Rock Concerts. Although it is not a major tourist site, there are a few things to see in the city like Bangalore Palace, Tipu Sultan's Palace and Vikasa Soudha.

How to Get There?

 By Air

Bangalore has an airport of its own called Kempegowda International Airport, 40 kilometres from the main city area. The airport is connected to major cities in India and abroad.  You can take a BMTC bus from the airport which is quite economic. You can also hire a taxi or book a cab to reach your hotel.

By Train

Bangalore has two major railway stations, Bangalore City and Yeshwantpur Junction. Bangalore City station is at the heart of the city. Bangalore East and Bangalore Cantonment are smaller stations. The station is well-connected to all the major cities in India. You can take an auto or hire a taxi to reach your hotel.

By Road

Luxury buses are also easily available to Bangalore from many cities across the country. Kempegowda bus station is the major bus station in Bangalore. All buses arriving from other cities have their major stop here.

 

Local Cuisines

Masala Dosa(pancake) with red chutney and stuffed potatoes and 'Benne Masalae' – a thick rice pancake is famous in the local cuisine. Bisibili Bath is also a popular local rice dish.
