The cool and pleasant hill station of Coorg is famous for its rare and unique traditional values. Most of the tourist attractions are nature-related. It can be difficult to reach the place but once you're there, the beautiful environment and the adventure activities it has to offer will certainly reinvigorate you.

Detailed Info

Coorg or Kodagu is a popular hill station located on the eastern slopes of the Western Ghats in Karnataka. The hill station is famous for rice, coffee, timber and spices. The ethnic people of Coorg have unique attire and festivals. The place was previously occupied by a warrior community called Kodavas. Later, the British took over the place and named it Coorg. The economy of Coorg is mostly dependent on agriculture and tourism.

There is a place in Coorg called Talakaveri from which the famous river Kaveri originates. Coorg is also home to many beautiful and pristine rivers. Abbey Falls and Iruppu Falls are some of the scenic waterfalls in Coorg. Among the other tourist attractions in Coorg are Bhagamandala, Nisargadhama, Dubare, Nagarahole National Park and the Tibetan Buddhist Golden Temple. Coorg also has three wildlife sanctuaries with a good variety of flora and fauna.
