Meghamalai is a beautiful hill station in the Theni district of Tamil Nadu. But it hasn't been vastly explored by tourists. The hill station is basically a misty mountain range situated in the Western Ghats of South India. A large portion of Meghamalai is covered with tea estates and cardamom plantations. The hill station has a rich variety of flora that includes scrub forests and plantations and precious fauna that includes Great Indian hornbills, Grizzled giant squirrel, Salim Ali's fruit bat, White-bellied woodpecker and different rare species of deer.
Because of its exceptional wildlife, Meghamalai Wildlife Sanctuary is a project the government is considering. The entire hill station provides breathtaking view points. One of them is Highwavy, a point that gives a stunning view of the Varusanadu Hills. The well-spread plantations and an artificial lake provide opportunities for nice leisure walks. There are six dams situated on the hills which are also popular tourist attractions. Vellimalai at the centre of Meghamalai is covered with Silver-lined clouds and has different wild animals. Somewhere in this region, the river Vaigai originates.
The hill station is at an altitude of 1500 metres(5000 ft) above sea level.
The hill station is surprisingly hot in summer, but the winters are cool, breezy and misty.
Between the winter months of October and February.
