Vagamon is a beautiful green hill station where the weather is much colder when compared to other places in India. Although the town has no sign of urbanisation, it offers many exciting adventure activities which are a must-try for visitors.

Vagamon is an extremely serene and pleasant hill station in the Idukki district of Kerala. Even though the state of Kerala has a lot of places with lush green plantations and meadows, Vagamon stands out among all such places. The atmosphere is special with hints of European legacy. The town was discovered by the British who found the place perfect for tea plantations and later Christian missionaries stayed in Vagamon building their abode of service at Kurisumala in Vagamon. 

The town is full of green valleys, waterfalls and fascinating pine forests that make you fall in love with nature. The region also has a wide range of rare flowers and orchids. Tourists have an opportunity to trek across the chain of three hills - the Thangal hill, the Murugan hill and the Kurisumala, significant for Muslims, Hindus and Christians respectively. Trekking, paragliding, mountaineering and rock climbing are some of the prominent activities in the region.

The nearest airport to Vagamon is Cochin International Airport which is 95 kilometres away. The airport is well-connected to major cities in India and abroad. From the airport, you need to hire a taxi to reach Vagamon.

By Train

The nearest railway station to Vagamon is at Kuttikanam which is at a distance of 22 kilometres from the town. Some other stations near to Vagamon are  Palai (33 km), Thodupuzha (39km) and Kumily (45 km). From the station, you can hire a taxi to reach Vagamon.

By Road

Luxury tourist buses are available to Vagamon from near-by cities in Kerala and from a few cities in other close-by states.
