Detailed Info

The Cheeyappara Waterfall is located towards the east of Neriamangalam in Idukki district, Kerala, India. The Cheeyappara Waterfall cascades down in seven steps, which is a delightful sight. This is also a great place for trekking.

The Cheeyapara Waterfall is situated approximately 1000 feet above the sea level. The Cheeyappara Waterfall is one of the beautiful waterfalls of evergreen Kerala and is a great eco-tourism destination of the region. It is one of the significant excursion points lying in the region surrounding Cochin. This cascade is created by River Deviyar as its plummets down a huge rock. Water jumps down from one rocky slab to the next thus creating several layers. After creating a small bottom pool, water flows down the road to continue its journey as a jungle stream. Since it is so close to the road, you can easily stop by.

As the waterfall is just next to the highway, there is no space for sitting and having a picnic. So splashing in water at the fall is not possible.

There are a few make shift stalls on either side of the waterfall. They sell some souvenirs, snacks and soft drinks.

Surrounded by thick green forests, hills and mountains; Cheeyappara waterfall remain a great spot for adventure tourism especially for trekking. It is one of the major adventure events held here. Trekking through the deep forests really involves a great amount of adventure. Cheeyappara is often mentioned along with Valara waterfall, which is about 12 kms away.
