Located 15 kms from Munnar, Eravikulam National Park is one of the most important tourist destinations in Kerala. This park is home to numerous protected species of flora and fauna, especially the Nilgiri Tahr and Hemitragus Hylocrious, which are common here. One can find around 26 different species of mammals at this park. It is an ideal place for seeing the biodiversity of the highly elevated shola-grassland ecosystem.
The Eravikulam National Park is known for its unique and beautiful ecosystem. The views throughout your visit will be breathtaking. The main problem is that the park gets too hot during the afternoons and sometimes you wouldn't get to see a lot of animals.

You can find around 26 different species of mammals at this park. It is an ideal place for seeing the biodiversity of the highly elevated shola-grassland ecosystem.
Spread across 97 sq. km., Eravikulam National Park stands out for the stark beauty of its rolling grasslands and sholas in the Kannan devan hills. Visitors are taken to Rajamalai in forest department vehicles and given an opportunity to see all of it. Anamudi, the highest peak (2695 m) south of the Himalayas, stands majestically in the core area of the national park.
Rajamalai is the tourism zone of the National Park, where the visitors are taken in forest departmentt vehicles and are introduced to the shola-grassland eco system unique to this region. There is a very informative interpretation centre at Rajamalai.
Reservation fee for the park is INR 50. Reservation counter is open from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Information centre in Munnar.
Eravikulam National Park is closed between the months of February and March. This is the calving time of the Tahr.
