The Kodaikanal Lake is the most significant landmark in the city of Kodaikanal and hence, an extremely popular tourist attraction. Surrounded by the lush green hills of the Palani Hills range, the serene Kodaikanal Lake offers tourists opportunities for pedal boating, row boating and Shikkara cruise. There are opportunities even for cycling, horse riding and jogging on the shore of the lake. Just the sight of the sparkling star-shaped lake is a treat to the eyes.

During the summer, boat pageant and flowers shows are held at the lake. The famous Kurunji flowering plant grows in the area around the lake. It has blue bell-shaped flowers that bloom once in 12 years, creating a magical sight. The last time this happened was in 2016. The outflow from the Kodaikanal Lake goes over a silver cascade fall. To get the best experience, tourists must visit the lake either in the morning hours or the evening hours.
