Kollam Beach is one of the premium beaches in Kerala. Although it is a popular beach, it is usually not very crowded. There are quite a few amusing activities that the beach has to offer. Even taking a long walk along the beach is a pleasurable experience.


PROS

  • Not very crowded.
  • Many hotels are available nearby.
  • Ideally located close to many major tourist destinations.
  • Lots of cultural festivals and activites takes place here all round the year.

CONS

  • There is a lot of trash in the sand.
  • The beach is quite unpleasant during the summer season.

Kollam lies on the shores of Ashtamudi Lake. It is the southern gateway to the backwaters of Kerala and is a prominent tourist destination. Thirty percent of this district is covered by Ashtamudi Lake. The eight hour boat trip between Kollam and Alappuzha is the best way to explore the backwaters. It is also very famous for cashew processing and coir manufacturing.

Kollam beach is a place where you can sit back and relax as there is no much crowd and hustle bustle of the city. The entire length of the concrete boundary wall of the Kollam beach is designed to seat the visitors providing ample seating to those who don’t want to sit in the sand.

An array of beach activities attracts thousands of tourists throughout the year to this perfect beach that offers a panoramic view of the Arabian Sea. The beach is home to Chinese fishing nets, Chinese water pots and sampan-like boats seen even today. Thanks to a well laid out beach garden and nice walkways, the beach is popular for morning and evening walks. You can find many picturesque moments while enjoying the beauty around.
