    Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary, also known  as Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, is located in the northern region of Wayanad. It has an amazing variety of flora and fauna. Twice a day, the sanctuary offers jeep safaris for guests to explore the place. The jeep safari lasts for about 2 hours. During the safari, you can spot many animals and birds thriving in their natural habitat. One of the best moments during the safari would be watching animals sip water from the lake. 

    In the sanctuary, you will see tropical moist dry deciduous forests, semi-evergreen forests and bamboo plants. It also has plantations of silver oak, teak, eucalyptus and rosewood. Animals like deer, elephants, panthers, tigers, bison, malabar squirrels, bears and the rare Slender Loris can be spotted in the sanctuary. Guests can only move around in the tourist zone. This is to promote the conservation of the sanctuary as well as the safety of the visitors.The jeep safari costs INR 675. It can take 7 people.
